Places To Go for Cultural Tours in Tanzania

BABATI AND HANANG

Babati is located along Arusha- Dodoma road in the Rift Valley, South of lake Manyara National Park and west of Tarangire National park. The people of Babati and Hanang follow their tribal culture and traditions closely. Enjoy fishing adventure with local canoes on Lake Babati while viewing hippos, participate in local beer brewing, enjoy cycling expedition through remote areas.

 

ENGARASERO VILLAGE

Engarasero is a village where  cultural and natural heritage are in harmony. The village is located South side of Lake Natron – famous known as salt lake. Engarasero is rich in Maasai cultural heritage. The Maasai community in Engarasero still practice its old age pastoral ways of keeping livestocks. As part of your package visit hot spring, waterfalls in Engarasero river, biking tour to the baboon caves, Emburululu crater and Lengai plains.

 

ENGARUKA

63 km North of Mto wa Mbu on the road to Oldonyo Lengai and Lake Natron you find an important historic village known as Engaruka. This village lies at the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment. Tour to Engaruka guarantee a visitor to see the oldest African irrigation system, masaai market, visit masaai boma.

 

GANAKO KARATU

Ganako Karatu is an important resting place for most safari travelers. Its situated on the way to the National Parks in the Northern Tanzania, just on lower slopes of Ngorongoro highlands outside the Ngorongoro and Serengeti. Cultural tour to the village will lead you meet the Iraqw tribe, visit a colorful Iraqw market, visit coffee plantations to enjoy the pure taste of African coffee.

 

ILKURO

Ilkuro tour will take you to visit Kilimamoto crater , Ngorora hill, waterfalls, valleys and Mount Meru. The village is situated on the west of Arusha town about 20km. Extended days tour to the village will give you an opportunity to hire camel or donkey for for viewing animals like giraffee, zebra, rabbit, hyena, dik-dik etc. You will enjoy watching and participating in Masaai dancing.

 

MACHAME

Machame to the north of the Arusha-Moshi road is a mosaic of beautiful valleys, deep gorges, rivers, waterfalls and farms, and is home of chagga people. While in Machame view Mount Kilimanjaro from three different views. You will be able to vist several projects in the area such as coffee plantations, traditional irrigations, bee-keeping, crass breeding, afforestation, food processing etc.

 

MAMBA AND MARANGU

Mamba and Marangu in the Kilimanjaro area have both natural and cultural heritage to offer the visitor. Visit to caves used to hide during chagga and Masaai tribe wars, Kinukamori and Moonjo waterfalls while wondering panoramic view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Mamba is paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. Meet a local black blacksmith using ethnic methods to prepare spears and other tools.

 

NKWESHOO – MACHAME

Nkweshoo village has a lot to offer including a visit to the oldest church building, learn Chagga relics, stories, Kilimanjaro trekking, walking through banana farmlands, a guided tour to Nkosalulu waterfalls. Mirerani is a small village located only 39km South East of Arusha town. Its 15 minutes drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport and its estimated to be 1:20 hrs drive from Moshi. The village surrounded by beautiful hills is the only place where Tanzanite mining takes place in the world. MULALA VILLAGE

Mulala village is atypical rural setting on the southern slopes of Mountain Meru and surrounded by spectacular scenery.
